What is NIP?
Neuro Impulse Protocol or NIP is a very gentle form of Chiropractic that was initially developed for babies and children and is now used for all age groups.
What is a NIP examination like?
The NIP assessment uses reflex testing, muscle testing and testing ranges of motion of spinal joints, extremity joints, joints at the front of the body or the cranium. The entire examination helps to direct the chiropractor to the exact location to adjust/treat.
What is an adjustment and will I hear a cracking or popping noise when I am adjusted?
This is the chiropractic term for a ‘treatment’.NIP adjustments are low force by nature and you will not feel or hear any cracking sounds. It is the combination of the speed and the specific direction of the thrust that has the desired effect.
Do I need to get undressed?
Most of the time we do our consultations and adjustment visits with the patient fully clothed. It is helpful for you to wear comfortable loose clothing. Sometimes it is necessary for you to get changed into a gown ( keeping underwear on) so we can make a more detailed assessment of the spine. If that is the case your privacy and comfort will be of the utmost importance.
How soon will I feel better?
Following your adjustments you should see an immediate difference in body function including increased range of movement and a disappearance of compensation patterns. That doesn’t necessarily mean the pain will reduce straight away. Chiropractic is not a quick fix and it is not a guaranteed cure all! Symptoms you are experiencing at the moment may have been waiting to erupt for a long time, and for a whole variety of reasons.
Whilst our initial aim is to relieve your pain as quickly as possible, that can depend on the complexity of your case, and our aim is a long term improvement in health and function. Your body will heal at its own rate and your management plan will be tailor made for you. Your opinion and health care choices are always taken into account so how much chiropractic care you want is entirely up to you – we will give you advice and recommendations based on our knowledge and expertise, but you choose how closely you follow those recommendations
